"Most people do not realize what a HUGE impact mindset has on the outcomes in our lives." Holly, this is so true. Negative thinking is one of the biggest saboteurs out there, because it holds us back from our true capabilities. Great post!

Angela,
According to most nutritionists, it is white flour that is the problem. I think that grinding your own flour is probably the most nutritious way to consume it - especially since your family seems to be getting healthier as a result. I don't eat a lot of bread or baked goods, but when I do I use whole grains or alternative flours. My husband has this skin condition and we don't know what is causing it. We tried to eliminate wheat to see if that may be the culprit but he couldn't not eat bread. So we still don't know if that is the problem or not! Many women with PCOS give up whole food groups because a naturopath or other practitioner told them to but I really don't think it's totally necessary unless you have an allergy. I am allergic to dairy so I pretty much avoid it but since it's not severe I'm not totally psycho about it.

Hi,
I am newly diagnosed with pcos and I am one of those that sees "No this and No that" and run for the hills. Your thoughts are very helpful and I am glad that I have found your blog. I have a question about wheat. Is it just processed wheat flour that is the problem? I grind all my grain and make my own breads, cookies, and anything else that can go into the oven from scratch. We started this because of my sons' problem with allergies and immune system and then found that we were all getting healthier. My husband's cholesterol has gone down, my kids are healthier and I feel better than did three years ago, although, I have had it pretty rough this last year. Anyway, I was just wondering what your thoughts are on wheat flour straight from the grinder full of all its protein, vitamins and fiber. Thank you for any thoughts you might be willing to share with me.

I think your mindset impacts your stress levels which are a large part of fertility. But there are so many other issues like PCOS, IR and so on that also have a major impact. So it is hard to say.

I believe that our mindset is the key to everything in our lives. If we think positive, then positive things will happen, or at least we wont' be looking through negative lenses. I heard a saying in high school that attitude is everything. And that is so true. If we keep thinking, I'll never get pregnant, I'll never ovulate, etc, your right! Because you've already set yourself up for failure. Believing in something positive is a lot healthier than thinking negative.

I have had PCOS my whole life, just never knew it. I was diagnosed in 2005. I take actoplusmet, which has made me have a period, on my own, every 32 days. Such a huge change to going years without one. I have gone through one round of clomid with no luck getting pregnant, but did ovulate. I kept telling myself while taking it that it was going to work. I prayed every day that it would work and that we would get pregnant. I am so thankful to know that at least the clomid worked. We are hoping to start our second round soon. I needed some time off after the first month didn't work. I have wanted to be a mom my whole life and now that it's around the corner, I'm scared to death!

What impact do you believe your mindset has on your fertility?

I think a positive mindset has a pretty big impact on fertility, like it has a big impact on a lot of other aspects of your life. The one thing you have control over is how you feel about something, and how you think about it. Thinking positive keeps your spirits up, you are better at dealing with let downs and stress.

I have been pretty depressed since finding out I had PCOS, knowing that it was going to be a rough road to losing weight and eventually having a child. All I could focus on was the negatives, I drowned myself in them. Until recently. Something clicked a few days ago and I have been motivated to make some huge changes in my life. I have to have a positive attitude to make these changes, to improve myself and to improve my chances of becoming a mother someday. It's all about how you think about it.

my motto on how your mindset impacts fertility is stay positive positive positive until you get a positive positive positive result. trust me i know it isn't easy, i find myself not keeping true to this all the time. but, at the very least having a positive mindset isn't hurting anything ig anything it's helping. :D best wishes to all the future mama's out there :D
